World Menopause Day 2021

18Oct

Awareness Day

Monday 18th October marks World Menopause Day 2021 with this year’s theme focusing on Bone Health.

This global awareness campaign is led by the International Menopause Society for the purpose of raising awareness on the menopause and the support options available for improving health and wellbeing.

The campaign encourages people to participate in spreading awareness through printing and sharing these materials, organising events to engage their communities, and sharing World Menopause Day social media posts.

Most women will experience menopausal symptoms. Some of these can be quite severe and have a significant impact on your everyday activities.

Some common symptoms include:

  • hot flushes
  • night sweats
  • vaginal dryness and discomfort during sex
  • difficulty sleeping
  • low mood or anxiety
  • reduced sex drive (libido)
  • problems with memory and concentration

Menopause affects everyone differently, therefore being aware and able to recognise your own symptoms is the first step to managing them.
