25th July 2021 National Schizophrenia Day- This event raises awareness to the challenges faced by people suffering from Schizophrenia in the UK and around the world. This event aims to break down the stigma around the condition.
Statistics show that at some point in life, 1 in 100 people will suffer an episode of Schizophrenia. In addition, at any one time around 220,000 people are being treated for Schizophrenia by the NHS in the UK. Around 25% of people who suffer an episode of Schizophrenia exhibit physical changes to their brain that can be seen on CT scans. This shows the importance of raising awareness on the illness to make people aware of it.
