Karen Thompson

Hi I’m Karen from Consumer Affairs, DfE.  I have worked for NICS since 2001.  Ronan asked me if I would like to be a Well Champion following my external Not the Parkrun. I started this during the first lockdown. This was set up to keep us all focused and help each other through.  I organised and led 65 Not the Parkruns throughout this time.  I also created the Parkrun Tourists NI and Beyond Facebook page to interact and encourage others to attend Parkrun.  My aim is to encourage others and be there when needed.  I have contributed to the Well Facebook page.  Apparently I am a motivator.  You cannot rule out the importance of exercise for mental and physical health.  I was a late starter to this game always thinking about exercise but  never following through now 6/7 years later still going.  It’s got me through some of the toughest times.
