CrISP aims to improve the knowledge, skills and understanding of people caring for someone living with dementia by providing effective support and up to date and relevant information. The programme is delivered over 2 sessions, with each session lasting just over 2 hours. Topics covered include understanding dementia, providing support and care (communication, difficulties someone with dementia encounters, etc.), legal and financial matters (EPA, controllership, benefits) and services and support available. Please note that this programme is for carers only and NOT health or social care professionals.

CrISP is funded by the Belfast Trust. We offer both online (Zoom) and face-to-face programmes (Alzheimer's Society Office, Skegoneill Street, Belfast). We have dates and times to suit everyone including mornings, afternoons and evenings. We have introduced evening sessions recently and occasional Saturday face-to-face programmes as well (3 per year).

We have seen an amazing surge of referrals recently so thank you for continuing to refer carers into the programme. We are now fully booked for both online and face-to-face programmes over the next couple of months. As we cannot promise any dates in particular as places are first come first served, please continue to refer carers into the programme. We have found that there is greater uptake for carers who are referred into the programme than those who are signposted, so please do consider making a direct referral into the programme and we will follow up with the person referred in with a range of available dates and times to book onto the programme.

We have a new form for both health professional referrals and self-referrals. To make a referral, please complete the form on this link
